The woman who survived the on-air shooting that killed a reporter and cameraman in the United States has given her first interview since the tragedy.

Alison Parker and Adam Ward were shot by Bryce Williams at close range while conducting the interview with Vicki Gardner, who was also shot, but survived.

In an interview with Fox News, she described the cold-blooded killing.

"It was just very, very fast… I saw movement and then gun fire – lots and lots of gunfire," says Ms Gardner.

"[Williams] shot me in the back, which I thought went through my spine, and thankfully again I have so many angels around me, or something like that, it didn't happen that way."

Williams died after the shooting from a self-inflicted gun wound.
