A memorial service is being held in Sydney today for TV personality Charlotte Dawson.

The 47-year-old was found dead on Saturday after a lengthy battle with depression.

High-profile celebrities have arrived at The Beresford Hotel in Surry Hills for the memorial, which began at 1pm New Zealand time.

Guests have been asked to wear bright colours and to make donations to mental health charities in Dawson's name, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The MC for the ceremony is Channel Nine entertainment reporter and fellow Kiwi Richard Wilkins. Dawson's sister is also due to speak.

Another memorial will be held in Auckland in a few weeks.
