Lorde's new single 'Mood Ring' dropping ahead of Solar Power album release

Lorde's third single from her album Solar Power will be released before the record drops on August 20.

According to the Kiwi singer's website, 'Mood Ring' will arrive on August 17 US time, making it the early hours of August 18 (Wednesday) in Aotearoa.

The teaser for 'Mood Ring' features the tag line "I can't feel a thing..." and links through to a 'Pre-Premiere Live Stream' event hosted by Lorde on YouTube, set to begin at 5:45am on Wednesday in New Zealand.

The YouTube thumbnail shows a birds-eye-view of six people dressed in green with their arms outstretched over what appears to be a bowl of ice, each holding a handful.

The 'Stoned at the Nail Salon' hitmaker previously said her trip to Antarctica helped inspire the album, which could explain the ice motif.

Last week, Lorde shared a 'Mood Ring Official Mood Chart' on her website, which featured the tag line "tell me how I'm feeling…"  The chart included a range of colours and the feelings they represented, including lovable, romantic, relaxed, unsettled, active and nervous.

The 24-year-old Grammy winner's first single named after the album Solar Power was released in June, following a four-year-long musical hiatus.
