Celebrities and friends react to death of Friends star Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry has started to receive tributes from far and wide following the news of his sudden death. 

Celebrities from across the world have started to share memories and photos of the late Friends star. 

Since the news of his death, several people, both within and outside of the entertainment industry, have shared memories and photos of the much-loved actor. 

It comes after Perry, who was best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead at his LA home on Saturday, according to multiple outlets. 

Sources revealed his body was found in his jacuzzi on Saturday afternoon (local time).  

TMZ was told that there was no foul play involved, and their sources said emergency services were called to the residence for cardiac arrest. 

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a school classmate of Perry's, took to Twitter/X to share his favourite memories. 

"Matthew Perry's passing is shocking and saddening. I'll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them," Trudeau said. 

"Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved - and you will be missed." 

The daughter of Bruce Willis who starred in The Whole Nine Yards alongside Perry, Rumer Willis, shared a tribute to her Instagram. "I'm so sad to hear about Matthew Perry passing," she wrote. 

She recalled being a kid and watching them together on set, describing him as "kind, funny and sweet".

"I think his physical comedy and that movie still makes me laugh so much, I know he had many challenges in his life and brought a lot of joy to people with his comedy, I hope he can rest peacefully," she wrote. 

Actor Selma Blair, who appeared on Friends, also shared a tribute to her Instagram audience, where she described feeling "broken-hearted", adding she "loved him unconditionally". "All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially."

Mira Sorvino, who starred with Perry in the 1994 film Parallel Lives, also expressed her emotion to the news of his death.

"Oh no!!! Matthew Perry!! You sweet, troubled soul!!" she wrote. "May you find peace and happiness in Heaven, making everyone laugh with your singular wit!!!" 

Paget Brewster, who played Kathy on the fourth season of Friends, shared a tribute on Twitter/X.

"I'm so very sad to hear about @MatthewPerry. He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after," she wrote. "He won't rest in peace though. He's already too busy making everyone laugh up there."

Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice - Chandler's on-and-off girlfriend in Friends, posted on Instagram to express her sadness.

"What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too-short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared," she wrote.

Olivia Munn also shared her condolences for the late actor on Instagram, writing, "He struggled with so much addiction and was brave enough to be open and honest about it. I'm so sorry to his family and friends who are getting this news today. Nothing short of heartbreaking. Rest in love, Matthew Perry." 

Meredith Salenger, who starred with Perry in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, said she'd known Perry since they were both 16, and shared four photos of them together on Twitter/X. "Oh man. No words. Rest in peace sweet @MatthewPerry," she wrote.

The official Twitter/X account for Friends also wrote a heartfelt message. 

"We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry's passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans," the message read. 

The news of Perry's death has left fans from around the world in shock.
