Taylor Swift's hotly anticipated album The Tortured Poets Department dropped last weekend and if that wasn't enough to stir all Swifties into a frenzy, the inspiration for one song certainly was.

In a surprise double feature album, Swift released 31 new songs, with one in particular catching fans' attention: 'thanK you aIMee'.

Fans are calling it a "scathing diss track" with the capitalised letters spelling out the presumed target of the lyrics, Kim. Fans have been quick to conclude that the song was about Kim Kardashian.

It includes lyrics like "everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman / But she used to say she wished that you were dead" and "all that time you were throwing punches, I was building something / And I can't forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed 'F**k you, Aimee' to the night sky, as the blood was gushing."

Swift's lyrics claim it was never a "fair fight" between the pair, or a "clean kill", also alluding to Kardashian "stomping across" her "grave".

On social media, fans excitedly reacted to the 'diss track', with a great many unfollowing reality TV star Kardashian in the process.

According to US Weekly, Kardashian's Instagram follower count plummeted by more than 100,000 after the song's release. Her recent posts have also been swarmed with Swift fans quoting the song in the comments.

The drama surrounding Swift and Kardashian and her former husband, Kanye West, is almost a decade old. It reached a head in 2016 with the release of West's song 'Famous', which included the lyric "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that bitch famous".

Kardashian then claimed the lyrics were approved by Swift and published an edited private phone call that made it appear as though the 'Shake It Off' singer had approved West's misogynistic lyrics.

At the height of the drama, much of the internet sided appeared to side with Kardashian and West, with many turning against Swift, calling her a snake and swarming her Instagram comments with snake emojis.

It was later proved that the video was faked and Swift came out with her Reputation album, brandishing snake imagery and insignia.

In a 2023 interview with Time magazine, Swift opened up about the impact of Kardashian and West's actions had on her.

"You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar," she said

"That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone any more. I went down really, really hard."

It's currently unclear if Kardashian, any of her family members, or West will respond to Swift with a diss track.
