Undoubtedly frosé was the pink summer staple drink of summer 2017, but now it might have met its match.

Gordon's is releasing its fancy pink gin in New Zealand and we can already taste the cocktails.

The Premium Pink Distilled Gin will be launching in Aotearoa this month, following its reported huge success in the UK and Europe.

According to a media release, the gin is inspired by an original recipe from the 1800s.

"[It's] perfectly crafted to balance the refreshing taste of Gordon's with the natural sweetness of raspberries, strawberries and tangy redcurrants, coming together in a blushing pink tone," says Gordon's.

The company recommends consumers mix the gin with soda in a large wine glass with ice, and garnish with fresh strawberries and a dash of lemonade. If soda isn't your thing, tonic is equally refreshing, or those with a sweet tooth can just serve it with lemonade.

Fenella Craig from Gordon's says the gin has a slightly sweeter taste than others, and the millennial pink shade makes the drop appealing for the upcoming summer months.

"The popularity of pink has seen a meteoric rise - people are falling in love with this colour, and it shows in how insanely popular our pink gin has been in Europe," she says.

"It really does liven up your cocktails - a real summer spritzer to enjoy with girlfriends!"

Although it's Gordan's first pink gin, there are a few others already on the local market, including The Source by New Zealand's own Cardrona Distillery.

Gordon's Premium Pink Distilled Gin will be available at selected retailers this month.
