An Instagram influencer has shocked followers by revealing she faked a glamorous holiday, just to prove how much people believe everything they see on the internet.

Natalia Taylor, who has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, fooled followers into thinking she was in Bali when in reality she didn't even leave the US.

Taylor posted a series of images of what looked like her in a fancy villa or hotel, popping champagne and lounging in the bath.

"The queen has arrived. #Bali," she captioned one photo.

The posts racked up thousands of likes from impressed followers.

"She really out here living her best life," one person commented.

"Queen of finesse, we must stan," wrote another.

But three days later, Taylor revealed the truth, dropping a YouTube video which showed her getting the shots down at her local Ikea store in Los Angeles.

She says the point was to show how often Influencers fake details about their life to score free products and social media status.

"It's been said life on the internet isn't always what it seems, especially in today's day and age when it's so easy to pretend to be anyone you want to be," Taylor explained in the video.

"So many influencers nowadays have actually been caught in the act of pretending to be at a particular destination when they really weren't and it's either Photoshop or it's not even them."

The video explaining her fake Bali vacation has received nearly 1 million views.
