A mother bear has been caught on camera frantically trying to get her four energetic cubs across a busy road in the United States.

The mother bear would pick up one of her cubs and take it to the other side of the road, only for the cub to scamper back into the middle of the road.

Hundreds of people responded to a video posted by Connecticut's Winchester Police Department warning locals the wildlife is coming out to play since the weather is getting warmer.

"Thank you to those who were patient and helped keep the bears safe while the mama bear tried to get her cubs across the street," they said.

"Please use caution while driving and avoid interacting with these animals."

The video amused many people online who compared the mother bear's situation to human parenting, or "bearenting" as one social media user called it.

"They are so grounded when they get home," one person jokingly wrote.

"Poor mama with those little scampers!! And every human who wanted to just help her but knows they'd get the business end of her paws," another said.

"She was seen later enjoying a soak after finding a sitter lol," a third wrote, attaching a video of a bear who was playing in someone's hot tub at their house.

Although the species of the bears is unknown, some social media users believe they are black bears. These types of bears are found in forests of North America and even parts of Mexico.

They're considered to be strong predators, and human encounters occasionally result in injury or death.
