'Genius': Aussie grandmother shares easy method for folding fitted sheet using a clothesline

If you're an Aucklander hoping to emerge from the weeks of lockdown with a new skill, we've got great news: An Aussie grandmother is here with a bedding hack sure to impress friends, family and flatmates.

Social media has been sent into a tailspin this week by one woman's TikTok showing how her mother easily folds a fitted sheet - notoriously one of the most tricky items to deal with on laundry day.

"Thanks mum for the tip on how to fold a fitted sheet," Amy, aka @Amymaree922, captioned the video, which has since racked up over 4 million views.

In the clip, Amy's mum spreads the purple fitted sheet out across the line of a washing line often referred to in Australia as a 'Hills Hoist', according to Aussie outlet 7 News.

Each side of the sheet gets folded into the middle to form one skinny piece, which Amy's mum then carefully slides off the clothesline.

She then folds it over several times in her arms until she finally is left with a small, perfectly neat square.

Impressed viewers took the comments to call the trick "genius".

"This is the best tutorial on folding that sheet ever," said one.

"She cracked a code we didn't even know existed," wrote another.

"Absolutely amazing - your mum is gifted," added another.
