Glorious churches and a Northland slice of paradise dominate Trade Me's most-viewed property listings of 2023

A landmark monastery and converted churches are among Trade Me's most popular property listings of 2023.

Trade Me Property spokesperson Casey Wylde said Kiwis are a property-obsessed bunch.

"Every year we see some spectacular properties listed onsite, with a few really special ones taking the top spots as our most viewed properties of the year," Wylde said. "It's not just houses, there is something for everyone on the 2023 list; whether it be a house, a church, or even an old power station."

1. St Gerard's Church - 90,621 views

St Gerard's Church in Pōneke topped the list with a huge 90,621 views.

The Church has been one of Wellington's most iconic buildings for over 110 years. Built in 1908, the heritage site boasts sweeping views across the harbour, perched above Oriental Bay at the foot of Mount Victoria.

The famous terracotta-coloured church drew in a crowd of hundreds for its final service in 2021 after multiple attempts to raise funds for the earthquake-prone building failed.

The property sold in three weeks, for just under $5 million.
