TikTok couple with 37-year age gap announce they are having first child together

A 63-year-old woman and her 26-year-old husband have announced they are expecting their first child, despite their controversial 37-year age gap.

Cheryl and Quran McCain have amassed millions of fans on TikTok by documenting their unconventional relationship, with Cheryl - a former surfer turned self-proclaimed influencer - currently boasting over 4.6 million followers on the platform.

In a video shared with their fanbase last week, the Georgia couple revealed they were starting a family together by showing off their surrogate's positive pregnancy test.

"We went to the doctor with our surrogate today and she is having our baby," Cheryl announced as Quran proudly showcased the scans.

"I'm so happy I'm going to be a father - we've got a family finally," Quran added, as Cheryl danced excitedly.

The video has since amassed more than 2.5 million views and over 10,000 comments, with many surprised fans expressing their shock at the news. Others couldn't help but snipe at the couple.

"You’re going to be a wonderful grandmother," one commented, with a second adding: "How is this possible?"

"I don't know what to say except I hope things work out," said a third, while one excited follower weighed in: "OMG Justin and Hailey Bieber, and now y’all!? I’m so happy, can’t wait to see your journey."

In a follow-up video, Cheryl and Quran addressed the confusion by reiterating they would adopt the child from the biological mother, who had become pregnant with Quran's sperm.

"We can't wait, we're very excited about it," Cheryl told the camera as the two beamed from ear to ear.

The couple first met when they were both employed at a local Dairy Queen restaurant in 2012. The two lost contact for years before reconnecting in November 2020, when Quran recognised Cheryl while she was working at a convenience store.

Quran identifies as pansexual, an orientation generally defined by romantic or sexual attraction to people of any sex or gender identity. People who are pansexual typically are more attracted to who the person is, rather than their gender or sex.

The age gap has proved controversial over the course of their relationship, with many detractors claiming they had mistaken Quran as Cheryl's son. Despite the backlash, the two have continued to share their love story online, with many of their videos amassing tens of millions of views.

Cheryl already has seven children aged in their 30s and 40s, and 17 grandchildren.

The two married in September 2021 after five months of dating.
