Frightening CCTV footage released after trio with hammer rob Christchurch liquor store

Frightening CCTV footage has been released of one of three recent aggravated robberies in Christchurch.

Three men, one armed with a hammer, are on the run after hitting a liquor store in Linwood about 7:45pm on Saturday.

Police said they left in a stolen vehicle with cash and cigarettes.

Footage supplied to Newshub shows a glass door being smashed through at the Linwood store, while the attendant tries to hold it closed. The three offenders then burst in and make off with goods.

In earlier incidents, four men robbed a Riccarton liquor store last Monday, and three offenders also hit the Night and Day in Woolston on Saturday. The store has been the scene of a rash of robberies in recent years.

Hammers were wielded in all incidents, but police say there's no evidence to confirm a link at this stage.

"No one was injured in any of these incidents. However, the victims are all understandably very shaken and all being provided support," Detective Sergeant Brad Greenstreet said.

"It is always a concern to police when victims going about their job are subjected to violence in their place of work, and we are working hard to ensure these offenders are held to account.

"Anyone in these situations should ensure their own personal safety is a top priority and then call 111 as soon as possible."

Police would like to hear from anyone who has any information; call 105 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
