Life in Lockdown: 'Dirty looks' in the supermarket

Among all your Life in Lockdown stories, one stood out to us because it's a reminder of how hard this is for some.

Clare (not her real name) wrote to us about how "lockdown life sucks".

She has two young children aged four and two. She's a solo mum. Her partner took his own life.

If that's not enough, she has no family available to support her.

Clare's only help was daycare but when that stopped, she had to abandon her studies.

Believe it or not, it gets worse. Clare's plans to move to a bigger and better property on Anzac weekend also had to be put on hold. She says "the lockdown has frozen my plans and a fresh start at life".

Food shopping is hard because she has to take the kids with her. "As if my anxiety wasnt enough, I get dirty looks from strangers in line, for opening my children up to potentially getting sick."

"This lockdown has been extremely hard, and everyday I feel like I want to break down and cry, give up."

So for every happy, creative family lockdown video you see, spare a thought for people like Clare.

It has been a difficult time for all of us, but maybe Clare has given us something to think about. Are you one of those people giving her "dirty looks" in the supermarket?

She even finished her letter to us with an apology that hers was "Not a very positive story".

But it was really - here's a young Kiwi mum fighting hard for her little bubble, and that's something worth sharing, isn't it?

"My kids keep me going because I need to survive for them."
