Police have charged two men with the murder of Bao Chang Wang, also known as Ricky Wang, after his remains were found buried in a shallow grave in March.

The two men aged 28 and 33 will appear in court on Tuesday afternoon.

It follows the arrest of a 29-year-old man last week who was charged with accessory to murder.

Police allege in August 2017 the 29-year-old drove at least one other person to the burial site on Rangipo Intake Rd, off Desert Rd in the central North Island in March.

Detective Inspector John Sutton says these charges are unlikely to be the last to come from the investigation.

"Our enquiries into Ricky Wang’s murder are ongoing and we expect that further arrests will be made over the course of the investigation.”

Wang -  a Chinese national and New Zealand permanent resident - disappeared in 2017 and while formal identification of the deceased remains ongoing, police believe it is him.

Police are appealing to the public for information and urge anyone who may know something about the case to call 0508 726 447. Mandarin speaking officers are also available to speak about the case.
