Police have charged a woman with murder after a man's body was discovered at a Christchurch property on Wednesday morning.
The body was located shortly before 9:45am at a property on Main North Rd in the suburb of Papanui, a police spokesperson confirmed in a statement.
The 55-year-old woman is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday. A post-mortem and formal identification process will be carried out then as well.
A scene guard will be in place at the property for a number of days, police say, while a scene examination continues.
Police say they would like to hear from anyone who has had contact with or visited people living in 139a Main North Rd, Papanui, since Christmas Day.

Police say they believe this is an isolated incident and there are no concerns for the safety of the wider community.
