A total of five people have now been charged with murder concerning the death of Samuel Curle last year.

Police initially arrested two men in December but have now arrested a further three people.

Curle, 36, was found with serious injuries on Kaipara Coast Highway after midnight on November 6. He succumbed to his injuries weeks later, on November 26.

Acting Det Insp Tim Williams said officers conducted a series of search warrants in both Waitematā and Canterbury districts early on Friday morning and located three people of interest in the investigation.

Two men, aged 17 and 62, were located at an address in Massey and were arrested without incident.

Meanwhile, Waitematā detectives travelled to Christchurch to coordinate the arrest of a third male, aged 31, who was also taken into custody.

"Police are continuing to provide support to Mr Curle's family at this difficult time," Williams said.

"While we hope these arrests bring closure to both his whānau and the community, our investigation remains ongoing."

Further arrests are not being ruled out.

The two men arrested in Auckland, aged 17 and 62, will appeaer in the Waitākere District Court. The 31-year-old is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.

Those who were earlier charged are due to reappear at the High Court in Auckland next September.
