A batch of a popular kids' snack recently sold nationwide has been recalled as it may contain plastic.

The affected products include two specific batches of The Collective's Suckies Strawberry probiotic yoghurt pouches, which have a best-before date of April 30, 2024.

The recall only applies to products sold in multipacks of 4x100g, and have batch numbers of either 32280 T2, or 32280 T3.

New Zealand Food Safety/Haumaru Kai Aotearoa said it's supporting the manufacturer, Epicurean Dairy Limited, in its recall of the yoghurt pouches.

"If you have any of the affected product at home, do not consume it," said Vincent Arbuckle, deputy director-general at NZ Food Safety/Haumaru Kai.

The popular yoghurt pouches being recalled are sold in supermarkets and other retailers nationwide, but none has been exported.

"It should be thrown out, or returned to its place of purchase for a refund," said Arbuckle.

The issue arose only after people complained the nozzle had broken, and pieces of plastic had gotten into the yoghurt. No injuries have been reported.

Arbuckle said Food Safety/Haumaru Kai will work alongside Epicurean Dairy to prevent the issue from happening again.

"If you or a family member have consumed any of these products and are concerned for your health, contact your health professional, or call Healthline on 0800 611 116."

It comes after The Collective previously issued a recall for two batches of individually-sold Suckies pouches in October last year, over fears it could contain plastic.

Customers were asked to return the products to their retailer for a full refund.
