A man accused of taking part in a kidnapping in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland earlier this month has been denied bail after pleading not guilty.
Dairy Flat man Jamie Maihi Perfect, 32, appeared at the North Shore District Court on Tuesday.
Perfect denied all charges he was facing and chose a jury trial. He'll next appear in court on May 28.
His lawyer Claire Robertson tried to get electronically-monitored bail granted, but the judge declined, remanding him in custody instead.
Perfect's plea comes after a woman was allegedly kidnapped and injured following an "altercation" in Beach Haven on Monday, April 1.
Police found the woman two hours later in the nearby suburb of Greenhithe.
The next day, police arrested a 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man (now known to be Perfect) in central Auckland.
Following the alleged abduction, Perfect was charged with kidnapping, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, commission of crime using a firearm, and burglary with a firearm.
Another man believed to be involved, 25-year-old Ralph Park, still has a warrant out for his arrest.
"Police would still like to hear from anyone who has information on his whereabouts," a police spokesperson told Newshub on Tuesday.
Park was shot at some point during the alleged kidnap, either by himself or another accidentally, police said earlier this month.
