40th minute - Highlanders still banging away in midfield, desperately hoping for a penalty. Phase after phase and the siren sounds, but the Highlanders can't crack the 22.
The ball shifts left, where Gregory steps Julian Savea and is dragged down short. There's another scramble among the forwards and Highlanders are over the tryline, but it needs a review.
Mau is initially short, but finishes over the line. Onfield decision was no try and there is no clear evidence to overrule that - and that's the game, folks.
39th minute - Bryn Evans wins the lineout and Highlanders mount an attack in Hurricanes territory. Gregory runs strongly.
38th minute - Highlanders eventually win a clearing penalty and Gareth Evans leaves for an HIA, pointing at his eye, which is swelling up fast. He's not happy, but Mabey has already checked and cleared the incident.
37th minute - Barrett pumps a high kick towards Hunt, who is safe underneath. Highlanders try to clear their 22.
36th minute - Hurricanes secure the kickoff and Barret kicks long. Highlanders enter Hurricanes half, but they eventually surrender the ball.
34th minute - TRY to Morgan
Barrett's touchfinder finds its mark just outside the Highlanders 22. They win the throw and shift left, where Savea enters the line from the right wing and gives Rayasi some space.
He heads for the corner and flicks a pass back infield, where Morgan is following and scores in a tackle. Barrett leaves his sideline conversion right, HUR 22-21
33rd minute - Hurricanes win a lineout and shift right, where Barrett steps inside a tackle. Canes reach halfway and have penalty advantage, so Mabey brings them back.
32nd minute - Barrett tries another long kick and Banks returns fire. More aimless kicking ensues...
31st minute - Hurricanes trying to bust out of their own half and Barrett kicks long into the Highlanders 22. Hunt returns the favour, finding touch just over halfway.
30th minute - Momentum seems to have switched to Highlanders now and they pour onto attack.
27th minute - TRY to Hicks
Eventually, Hunt holds onto the ball, darts upfield and chips ahead. Thomas Umaga-Jensen taps the ball back infield to Hunt, who finds Lienert-Brown.
As the Highlanders charge into the 22, Hicks funs off a ruck to score in a tackle. Banks converts, HIG 21-17
26th minute - Banks has returned to replace Gregory and another aimless kicking duel ensues.
25th minute - Highlanders throw long to a lineout and Gregory charges towards the 22. Hurricanes scramble the ball into touch, but Gregory is still down, holding his shoulder.
Gregory leaves the field for an HIA, much to his surprise.
24th minute - Hurricanes win another lineout with a long throw to Rayasi, but when the ball goes right, Gregory wins a penalty for the Highlanders at the breakdown.
23rd minute - Highlanders win the lineout, but Hurricanes wrench the ball from the maul. Perenara kicks into the 22 and Highlanders can only clear to the 22.
22nd minute - Hurricanes are building an attackin inside Highlanders half and shift the ball right, but Moorby's pass to Savea goes to touch.
Mitch Hunt replaces Banks.
21st minute - From the lineout, Jackson Garden-Bachop kicks high towards the posts. Fakatav spills the ball, Gibson gathers and shifts right, where Julian Savea goes close, before flicking the ball infield, where Perenara touches down.
Replays show Savea had a foot in touch.
20th minute - Perenara spots a gap inside the Highlanders 22 and kicks, and Banks only clears as far as the 22.
19th minute - Highlanders secure the kickoff and Fakatava clears his 22.
18th minute - Banks slots the long-range kick, HUR 17-14
17th minute - Highlanders try to build an attack, but Hurricanes counter-ruck and cross halfway. Evans is over the breakdown and wins a penalty just inside the Hurricanes half, so Banks lines up the posts again.
16th minute - Highlanders have a lineout on the Hurricanes 10 and Evans wins the throw.
15th minute - Highlanders win the scrum penalty on halfway and Banks kicks for touch, but Rayasi cuts the ball off, before it crosses the sideline.
14th minute - Jackson Garden-Bachop kicks off, but his kick is out on the full, so Highlanders have a scrum on halfway.
11th minute - TRY to Makalio
Highlanders go right and Paea is barely dragged down. Eventually, Mabey awards a penalty in front of the posts, but Banks kicks to the corner.
Hicks wins the lineout and Highlanders maul to the line, where Makalio scores a hooker's try. Banks leaves his conversion attempt right, HUR 17-11
10th minute - Highlanders win the lineout and when the ball comes back left, Lentjes eyes up the tryline.
Ninth minute - Highlanders try to launch an attack from their own half and Smith bounces a kick into the 22, finding touch.
Prinsep wins the lineout for the Hurricanes, but can't release the ball and is shunted into touch for a Highlanders attacking lineout.
Sixth minute - Highlanders scrum is disrupted in midfield and Hurricanes win a penalty. Barrett lines up a kick at goal, because nothing else is working for anyone, but the ball falls over.
Barrett hurriedly replaces the ball and slots the penalty, HUR 17-6
Fifth minute - Perenara clears a scrum outside the Highlanders 22 and Hurricanes try to build an attack, but Walker-Leawere's short pass to Barrett to put down.
Third minute - Smith feeds a scrum outside the Highlanders 22 and they keep the ball in hand to clear, but knock on.
Second minute - Hurricanes win a lineout and shift right, where Rayasi finds Julian Savea with a bouncing pass. Highlanders steal the ball, but knock on.
First minute - Jackson Garden-Bachop kicks off for the Hurricanes. Banks catches it and puts Gregory into some space.
Highlaners burst upfield and Banks kicks across the field, where Rayasi races back up towards the Highlanders end.
Halftime
40th minute - Hicks comes on to replace red-carded Dickson, so Highlanders are back to full strength.
Turning scrum is untidy for Hurricanes and they scramble the ball to touch as the halftime siren sounds.
38th minute - Highlanders win a lineout on the 22 and rumble towards the tryline, but Paea loses the ball in a crunching tackle.
37th minute - Banks drops out from his goal-line and Barrett returns from halfway. Rakete-Stones is penalised at the breakdown.
36th minute - Walker-Leawere wins the lineout and Hurricanes maul towards the tryline. When the ball is released, Ardie Savea has a dab and Aumua is eventually held up over the line - good work from Coltman and Evans.
35th minute - Hurricanes win a penalty in Highlanders territory and Barrett aims for the corner, after wiping away that blood.
34th minute - Hurricanes try to launch something from outside the 22, but their kick is fielded by Connor Garden-Bachop, who clears. Barret has blood pouring from his nose.
33rd minute - Mafileo has passed his HIA, after that head-high tackle.
32nd minute - The penalty is in midfield and Banks eyes up the posts, slotting his kick, HUR 14-6
31st minute - Aumua's lineout throwing has taken a turn for the worse in the last few minutes, but Hurricanes secure this one. They can't clear their 22 and Coltman wins a penalty for the Highlanders at the ruck.
30th minute - Highlanders charge towards the tryline, but Connor Garden-Bachop is isolated in a tackle and is penalised for not releasing.
29th minute - Highlanders try to build an attack, but Aumua drives Lentjes back 10 metres in a tackle.
Hurricanes lineout goes astray and de Groot charges towards the tryline.
28th minute - Jackson Garden-Bachop kicks to brother Connor on halfway.
27th minute - Highlanders win a lineout and maul towards the line, but sideways. They release to Banks, who kicks towards the far corner, but Gregory can't gather and lands badly.
26th minute - Banks throws a long pass right, but Gilbert can't cross the 22. Mabey is playing penalty advantage and eventually brings them back.
25th minute - Highlanders lay seige on the 22, but Hurricanes defence is good.
24th minute - Banks fakes a kick to touch and taps instead, as the Highlanders try to break out of their half. Banks puts a high kick up that bounces off Barrett's chest.
Highlanders hot on attack now...
23rd minute - Hurricanes have the ball on halfway and break down the right, but concede a penalty for not rolling away in the ruck.
21st minute - TRY to Rayasi
From the penalty, Prinsep wins a lineout in the 22 and the Hurricanes shift right, where Rayasi has injected himself from the left wing to scamper through a gaping space in midfield to score. Barrett converts, HUR 14-3
20th minute - Jackson Garden-Bachop's long pass is almost cut off, but Julian Savea bumps off a couple more tacklers. The ball is hacked ahead and Banks forces for a goal-line dropout.
Meanwhile, Mabey is reviewing foul play and replays show Dickson has caught Mafileo with a high shoulder to the head, so we have another red-card situation.
19th minute - The Highlanders kick long from their dropout and Barrett snaps a long drop goal attempt that goes nowhere close.
Hurricanes get the ball back on halfway and Sullivan threatens to bust the defence open again.
18th minute - Perenara feeds a scrum on the Highlanders 22 and when the ball shifts left, Julian Savea rampages towards the posts, bouncing off defenders, before rolling over the line. Mabey smells a rat and replays show Savea looses the ball before he can force it.
17th minute - Highlanders win the lineout, but Hurricanes forwards maul them back and the ball is spilled at the back of the maul.
16th minute - Hurricanes shift right from a scrum and Moorby makes a long run, but can't find Julian Savea with his pass. Solomona cops a foot in the head, making that last tackle, and leaves for an HIA.
14th minute - Highlanders struggle to clear a scrum near their own goal-line and eventually Banks kicks from his deadball line.
12th minute - Blackwell wins the lineout on the 22 and Connor-Bachop puts a high kick towards the posts. Smith can't gather the catch, but neither can Barrett, chasing hard.
11th minute - Hurricanes barely clear their midfield scrum and win a penalty in Highlanders half. Barrett kicks to touch.
10th minute - Aumua feeds a lineout on the Highlanders 10, but he overthrows and Coltman snaffles it for the Highlanders.
Eighth minute - TRY to Sullivan
Hurricanes on the front foot and shift right, where Julian Savea has the strength to offload in a tackle and Sullivan slices infield to score. Barrett converts, HUR 7-3
Seventh minute - Hurricanes mount an attack from halfway, with Ardie Savea making good ground down the middle. Hurricanes win a penalty and Perenara takes a quick tap, which results in another advantage.
Sixth minute - Highlanders win a scrum penalty in the Hurricanes half and Banks points to the posts. He slots it to open the scoring, HIG 3-0
Second minute - Jackson Garden-Bachop eventually wins the inevitable game of forceback, finding touch on the Highlanders 22.
First minute - Highlanders have a late change, with Hugh Renton replacing Mikaele-Tu'u, while Angus Mabey will referee the game.
Banks kicks off the Highlanders and Hurricanes work a couple of phases, before Perenara clears towards halfway.

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Super Rugby Pacific clash between the Highlanders and Hurricanes at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Both teams enter this contest off comprehensive victories over competition newcomers Moana Pasifika. For the southerners, their success represented their first win of the season, while the boys from the capital heaped a healthy dose of revenge on the Pacific Islanders, after becoming their first Super Rugby victims last month.
These rivals have staggered through NZ conference play, with the Hurricanes' season-opening win over the Blues promising so much, but ultimately falling short on delivery. They're probably still sour over the last-minute non-call that cost them against the Crusaders last week.
The Highlanders have battled, without really tested any of those ranked above them, but now have a chance to build on their first taste of success, before the trans-Tasman crossovers begin next week.
