Emojipedia has released sample images of the draft emojis it hopes will be rolling out later this year - with none as controversial as last year's 'pregnant man' emoji.

In a blogpost on the Emojipedia website, editor in chief Keith Broni revealed a shaking face, two pushing hands and a plain pink heart were among those it was hoping would be incorporated into the standard.

Others suggested this year include a donkey, a jellyfish, a hair pick and a Khanda, the symbol of the Sikh faith.

Emoji 15.0 is scheduled for release in September, with platforms such as iOS and Android adding them in late 2022 or 2023.

The organisation released the suggested new emoji ahead of World Emoji Day on Sunday, July 17.

While some may not make the final cut, it's likely the vast majority will, with every emoji previewed in 2021 approved.

The new samples were created by head of emoji design Joshua Jones, the eighth year the organisation has previewed them. How the emoji will actually look once released will vary depending on the platform, Emojipedia said.

The biggest addition is that of the pink heart which has been one of the "most discussed absences on the emoji keyboard for many years".

The new pink heart differs from other pink-coloured hearts already available in that it will have no adornments or features, making it more like the existing orange, yellow, green and blue hearts.

Emojipedia also noted that the number of new emojis this year was smaller than in recent years.

"The draft list for Emoji 15.0 contains only 31 recommended emojis, while 2021's Emoji 14.0 contained 112 recommendations, while 2020's Emoji 13.0 and Emoji 13.1 contained 334 between them (117 and 217, respectively).

"In fact, it is the smallest number of new emojis that Unicode has ever recommended at any one time."

It's also the first time ever that there are no new 'people' emojis being recommended, after years of new skin tones, gender-neutral variants and different professions being added.
