A New York-based flight attendant is the spitting image of Meghan Markle - so much so she has signed up as her official Doppelgänger.

Christine Mathis works for JetBlue Airlines in the US and says she first started getting compared to Meghan when the then actor appeared on the TV show Suits in 2011.

"I started getting mistaken for Meghan years ago when I worked in first class," Mathis told the Daily Star.

"Passengers would stop me and say I looked like 'that girl from Suits'."

The 32-year-old has been approached by passengers so often, that she signed up as an official Duchess of Sussex lookalike and has already had a photoshoot with the Prince Harry look-alike.

She said the attention really gained speed when Meghan and Harry got married.

"Passengers always tell me I look like her and say to me, 'You're married to a prince, why are you working as an air hostess?'"

Airport security didn't even believe her that she wasn't the royal.

"I was getting stopped more and more, and when they got married it became a daily occurrence of people asking me if I was Meghan. I flew from LA to New York for work one day and security thought that I actually was her until they checked my passport, which was hilarious,"

Mathis is a mother of one, and is in a happy long-term relationship with her boyfriend.

She aspires to one day move into TV and dreams of playing Meghan in a movie about her.
