Man arrested after 'sickening' attack on schoolgirl outside Melbourne McDonald's

A man has been arrested for an alleged assault on a 14-year-old girl outside a McDonald's in Melbourne.

In a statement on Wednesday, police said a 47-year-old man was "assisting police with enquiries", 7 News reports.

The victim of the attack, Aimee Carpinteri-Jobe, has spoken of how scared she was.

"He could have killed me," she told 7 News. "If I fell back and hit my head on the concrete, I could have died."

Police said the investigation into the assault is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact them.

The stepdad of one of the victim's friends was the attacker, it has been alleged.
