A three-year-old Australian boy has died after a freak accident involving a lawnmower.
The child, Maddox, was struck by a ride-on lawnmower being driven by his dad.
Maddox was rushed to Pambula District Hospital in New South Wales on Saturday afternoon. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the boy later died.
"He [the father] reversed over the poor child. He didn't see him," a police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.
The boy's death is under investigation but police do not expect to lay any charges.
"I don't think anything you could do to the father would change the way he feels, unfortunately," the spokesperson said.
A Gofundme set up on the family's behalf said Maddox was an energetic and happy toddler whose life was tragically short.
"Despite the short time Maddox was given he made a huge impression on everyone he met, and truly was his parents' little angel," the page said.
"His family have many beautiful memories to cherish and recall his cheeky personality and would like to provide Maddox with a memorial that honours these memories."
