Sean Spicer ridiculed again in Melissa McCarthy's SNL parody

Comic and actress Melissa McCarthy has returned to Saturday Night Live to take aim at Donald Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer.

The Bridesmaids star last week debuted her performance as Spicer, who has been criticised and ridiculed in real life for a number of statements he's made in defence of Mr Trump's policies and statements.

In her latest eight-minute skit, McCarthy takes aim at Spicer's habit of getting through "two and a half packs" of cinnamon gum by midday each day.

"I have been told that I'm going to cut back on the gum-chewing, so I'm limiting myself to one slice a day," she shouted, holding up a packet of gum that measured about half-a-metre.

She then mocked him by announcing a meeting between Mr Trump and a leader from central Asia, failing to pronounce the leader's name, in a similar fashion to Mr Spicer's bungled pronunciation of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's last name.

Other jokes centre on Trump's failed travel ban on citizens of a number of Middle Eastern countries, his campaign promise to impose extreme vetting and his real-life mix-up of US cities Atlanta and Orlando when referring to terrorist attacks.

The skit also turns into an infomercial at one point, with Mr Spicer attempting to sell jewellery and shoes from Ivanka Trump's clothing line - which was dropped by retail giant Nordstrom in light of falling sales - in a similar style to Kellyanne Conway on Fox News earlier in the week.
