Married at First Sight NZ 2017: Luke says 'It feels pretty right, I guess'

Luke the surfer has opened up about his big day after getting hitched in the debut episode of Married at First Sight NZ.

The 34-year-old was wed to Lacey, a 29-year-old consultant from Tauranga with a traditional South African family who initially weren't too pleased with her romance plans.

The morning after the episode was broadcast, Luke appeared on The AM Show to face some hard questions - the first of which was if the marriage is going well.

"Yeah. I mean, it's obviously pretty different and I wasn't used to it, the whole wedding and getting married, because I've never done it before. But it was a lot of fun," he said.

"It doesn't feel wrong. It feels pretty right, I guess."

Luke added that Lacey could see past his beard to still be attracted to him, but worries she may take clippers to it when he's sleeping.

Despite travelling the world as a professional surfer, the Raglan-based Warehouse manager said he went on the reality TV show after simply not finding Ms Right.

"I've had a couple of relationships that were amazing, but they obviously didn't work, for whatever reason. I've been pretty unlucky, I've been single for the last three years, so I thought I'd jump at the opportunity to give this a crack."

When asked if he pashed Lacey "with tongue" or engaged in "nookie", Luke refused to say, insisting he was "a gentleman".

More of Luke and Lacey's relationship will be shown off on Monday night as the second episode Married at First Sight NZ is aired on Three at 7:30pm.
