Reese Witherspoon has revealed that Mindy Kailing has signed on to write Legally Blonde 3, along with talk show writer Dan Goor.
Witherspoon, who plays Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde movies, shared the news on Instagram, saying: "Some things are just meant to be!"
The post featured Kailing dressed up as the film's sassy sorority-girl-turned-lawyer, complete with fluffy dressing gown and chihuahua in tow.
"This is Elle Woods approved!" Witherspoon added.
Kailing also celebrated on social media, writing that her "Elle Woods fan fiction" would finally be put to use.
"Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time," she wrote.
"Bend and snap people!"
The news comes almost 20 years on from the release of the first Legally Blonde movie, which premiered in July 2001. The sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, saw Witherspoon reprise her role as the Harvard law graduate two years later.
