Super Rugby Pacific: Crusaders coach Scott Robertson to bring up 100 games in charge against Chiefs

Crusaders coach, Scott Robertson will bring up 100 games in charge of the Super Rugby side when they take on the Chiefs in their semi-final clash on Saturday.

Robertson, along with forwards coach, Jason Ryan, will reach the special milestone together, six years since they took charge in 2017.

Five Super Rugby titles later, which include Super Rugby Aoteroa wins in 2020 and 2021, their tenure has brought noteworthy success to the Christchurch-based side.

Roberton was the first coach in the competition's history to win three championships in his first three seasons.

While his titles are nothing new to the Crusaders franchise, having won an incredible seven beforehand, his tenure began at a troublesome time for the side.

He took over Todd Blackadder as coach, who led the Crusaders to a quarter-finals exit in 2016, and were still trying to overcome the holes left by club legends, Richie McCaw and Dan Carter the year before.

But Robertson's quick results were no surprise to many, having previous success with Canterbury and the New Zealand under '20s, where he won both of their respective competitions in his first season at the helm.

Back coach, Andrew Goodman has heaped praise on his boss and Ryan.

"It's special. Got so much respect for both of them. Razor for giving me my opportunity here five years ago but over the last few years they've become really good friends," he said.

"Stoked for those two lads, it's not something they're going to focus on, it probably won't be mentioned at all during the week.

"Jase has been with him the whole time as well, and the work he's done with our forward pack, and his personality around the team, the both of them, have had a big influence on a lot of these young men at this organisation.

"The boys will go out and put in a performance for them on Friday."

Goodman credits Robertson with creating an infectious culture, on and off the field.

"Awesome achievement for them both, they both have such a massive influence on the Crusaders organisation, hopefully, we can reward that on Friday night," he said.

"We've got an awesome work environment here, we enjoy spending time together and coming into work but a lot of good, social times outside of work as well."
