Former BlackCaps captain Ross Taylor completes his return to international cricket with his naming in the New Zealand Twenty20 and one-day squads for the series against England starting next week.
In a controversial move in early December, New Zealand coach Mike Hesson stripped Taylor of the captaincy in the shorter forms of the game.
He turned down the offer of remaining as Test skipper, deciding instead to take time out from cricket, and was unavailable for the tour of South Africa.
Opener Hamish Rutherford, son of former New Zealand captain Ken, is the only new cap in the squads named on Friday.
Rutherford, 23, has been selected in the squad for the three Twenty20 matches along with Otago teammate Ian Butler, who returns to the national side.
Canterbury allrounder Andrew Ellis returns to both squads after an injury forced him out of the recent tour to South Africa.
Wellington's Grant Elliott, who performed well in the history-making one-day series win in South Africa, replaces Corey Anderson who is unavailable due to a fractured thumb.
Tim Southee was not considered for selection as he is still recovering from thumb surgery.
Hesson said it was great to have Ellis and Taylor back to work alongside youngsters like Rutherford.
"Andrew proved his worth with the team last summer, while Ross is a world-class batsman who is a key part of this Black Caps side," he said.
"Hamish has shown he is an explosive batsman, and we hope he can bring that form to the BlackCaps."
Rutherford, playing for Otago in their four-day Plunket Shield match against Northern Districts, was in fine touch in making 162 off 187 balls before being dismissed just before lunch on Friday.
Ellis, Munro, Taylor, Rutherford and Butler have been named in the New Zealand 11 to play two warm-up matches in Whangarei on Monday and Wednesday.
Twenty20 squad: Brendon McCullum (captain), Trent Boult, Ian Butler, Grant Elliot, Andrew Ellis, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Roneel Hira, Mitchell McClenaghan, Nathan McCullum, Colin Munro, Hamish Rutherford, Ross Taylor.
