The man who killed and dismembered Christchurch teenager Hayden Miles is to be sentenced in the High Court at Christchurch today.
Gavin Gosnell, 28, was found guilty in April of murdering the 15-year-old, whose body parts were found in unmarked graves in two Christchurch cemeteries nearly four months after he went missing.
The trial jury was told Hayden was at Gosnell's Linwood flat in August 2011 when Gosnell bashed him unconscious.
He then cleaned Hayden up and left him on a couch, where Gosnell's then-partner found him dead the next morning.
Gosnell used a knife and saw to cut the body into 12 parts before being dumped into the unmarked graves, where they lay undiscovered until December 2011.
He claimed he only meant to knock Hayden out but did not intend to kill him.
